Welcome the Unexpected

One of the strengths of open source is that contributors always surprise you. When someone submits a new module that takes things in a new direction, be willing to devote some resources to making it a bigger success. If some people start using your product in ways you didn't expect, check it out and see whether there's a whole new market waiting for you. Most of all, listen to what your community tells you it wants and needs. You have made an investment of company resources in order to use open source, so be sure to get the greatest possibe return on that investment by harvesting the innovation that your community creates.
