CreativePricingModels

The current OOPSLA pricing model, "pay for what you eat," seemed to work well when lots of people were eating the high-margin things that OOPSLA was offering. It might be better to now move to a "buffet" model, where the price to get into the gate is a little higher but nobody feels excluded from any particular area.

ACM won't buy it, but that's because we haven't sold it well in the past --RonCrocker

Another page, PricelineOOPSLA, has some more creative pricing models. Do we have any thoughts on SellingNewStuffToACM? --RonCrocker

First, we need to decide what is going to work better

than what we have now. Then we have to sell it to ACM.

ACM is not going to be happy with random changes

to the priceing model that we hope will do better.

We need to have a good argument why it will work better.

At the moment, we don't have any such arguments. -- RalphJohnson
